Bellydancers in Dubai
Filmed in April 2010 at 'Al Hadheerah' the desert restaurant at the Bab al Shams resort in Dubai, UAE. The blonde dancer is Madina but I didn't pick up the name of the other. They did a 4 minute piece on stage and spent the rest of the time in the audience going from table to table while the staff photographers took photos to sell to the tourists.
Safaa Yousry: melaya and saidi
Safaa starts her performance with a melaya, then moves onto saidi with a bit of hagallah twist too.

Nagwa Fouad: lime green bedlah
You may recognise the studio set as it was used for many clips of bellydancers in the 70s.
Nagwa Fouad: 'Samra Ya Samra'
The singer is the legendary Karem Mahmoud (1922-1995). There's a story that Karem first saw a very young Nagwa in tears at one of her first parties. Karem, who was already a star, asked why she was crying and she explained that her musicians hadn't arrived and so she would have to leave. He said to her "Don't leave, I will sing and you will dance".
Who's that girl (4)?
I'm not sure of her name, but she's great, with a lot of personality and a real sense of fun.
Who's that girl (3)?
Ignore the title as the only thing I know now is that it's not Maya, but does anyone know the name of this Lebanese bellydancer?
Hakam: Tannoura in Dubai

Soheir Zaki: blue on round platforms
No collection of classic Egyptian bellydance video clips would be complete without this clip of Soheir Zaki at her finest.
Heyatim
Egyptian dance star from the 70s. Heyatim in a black and gold striped galabeya, oozes confidence but its not shown as the in-your-face aggression we see from some of today's dance 'stars'. Heyatim's style is relaxed and fluid.
Nagwa Fouad: "Ali Looz" Part 1
Many dancers have this clip of a 'mini Nagwa' superimposed onto a tabla.
Hala al Safy and Metkal Kanawi_2
In 1986 Hala al Safy, whose real name is Suhayr Hasan Abdeen, renounced dance and performing. She now considers it haram (forbidden) and describes her career as a dancer as a time ... I left my life in the hands of the Devil to play with...
Hala al Safy and Metkal Kanawi_1
This is my favourite video clip of all. I saw this clip for the first time many, many years ago and by the time it had finished I was hopelessly in love with Egyptian dance and music! Nothing's changed :-)
Nelly Fouad
Egyptian bellydancer from the 70s. Nelly Fouad was born in Alexandria but made her name on the Cairo dance scene. Here performing to the zeffa.
Red Rose: Pt 3
The only thing I know about her is that she's NOT Egyptian and is possibly Tunisian. Thanks to the dancers who have had suggestions and info abt this dancer. I haven't changed the first screen of the video because I would have to reload and that would change the url.

Saudi: Al Aardhah Al Najdyaah (2)
This dance is called "Al Aardhah Al Najdyaah". Al Aardhah means the dance, Al Najdyah is relevant to the land of "Najd" which includes Riyadh and its suburbs, where King Abdulaziz the father of the Saudi Kings was born and started the unification of his Kingdom. So, in the old days when there were lots of wars led by the founder of the Kingdom this dance is usually performed after winning a war ... they usually sing "Nehmadallh Jat Aala Ma Netmanna" which means "We are grateful to Allah that we have won such a war". After the wars ceased it became a Saudi traditional dance to be performed on occasions such as National Day and the Culture Festivals such as Jenadyriah. The King will also participate in such dance as his father used to. The drums, tassels, swords, the outfits, and all relevant decorations are derived from the old days.

Amani: red/pearl bedlah
She's always terrific but this performance, in a red/pearl bedlah, is extra good!

Lebanese bellydancer Amani wearing a purple/yellow bedlah. The drummer is her ex Bassem Yazbek who's put out a couple of bellydance music cds.
Ranine: Part 1
